Channing Tatum Proposal To Jenna Dewan Did Not Go As Well As He Planned

Casanova, he ain’t! Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum are two of the most likeable couples in Hollywood. They met on the movie set “Step Up” and have always been willing to share intimate moments of their lives with fans. One of these moments that Tatum shared in a recent interview was how his lame sense of humor hurt Jenna’s feelings and made her cry when he was really trying to set up a romantic scenario for a marriage proposal. Surprise marriage proposals are the stuff dreams are made of to any girl who envisions the romantic setting, ring and down on one knee type of proposal. After all, that only happens to a girl once, right? Well let’s say the first marriage proposal is usually the one you remember the most. Lol!

Ever since we saw both of them in “Step Up,” Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have been one of those favorite Hollywood couples you just can’t seem to get enough of their cuteness. Part of what makes them so adorable is they never shy away from talking about their relationship, whether that means their sex life, their first night together or just wishing each other a happy anniversary. Tatum shared another intimate story about his relationship with Jenna. This time, about his proposal, which really didn’t go as well as planned. “When I proposed to my wife, I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me. I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off,” the “Logan Lucky” star told BBC’s Radio One.

Even though they first met on the set of “Step Up,” in 2006, they didn’t start dating until after filming wrapped and the rules of their relationship from the start was you are either in it or not, so you can understand why Dewan was really upset with Tatum’s “joking” revelation. “I told her, ‘I don’t believe in the institution of marriage and I don’t think I ever want to get married. Ever.’ She basically broke down crying,” Tatum said as he laughed. “I thought, ‘This is not going well at all,’ so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later.” Luckily for Tatum, all was forgiven after he gave Dewan the ring. The couple married in 2009 in Malibu, California and welcomed a daughter, Everly, in 2013.

Susan Z’s Conclusion:

I have watched several interviews from both Channing and Jenna on their relationship and the one consistent thread in the appraisal of their relationship is honesty and laughter. So, you can see why in Tatum’s nervousness, he really did a dumb thing with Jenna and almost totally ruined the moment…. well he actually DID ruin his planned moment. Thank God, both of them have a sense of humor about each other.

The Tower: Inverted (Upside Down)
Having the rug pulled out from under you in an unexpected way. Since inverted, it shows that yes, Tatum messed the proposal up with his lame sense of humor but turned it around to his advantage by still getting the girl.

Six of Pentacles:
Sharing of love and gifts in a relationship. I believe they have an honest, healthy relationship with a lot of loving respect for one another.

Five of Cups: Inverted
Disappointment in love and letting go of the past. Inverted, it supports my above-mentioned statement that even though his proposal was a disappointment to Jenna, they turned it around and she accepted. Actually, all the tears aside….it makes a great proposal story and thankfully with a happy ending.
