Whenever this Major Arcana The Lovers Tarot card shows up in a reading spread, there is no question for me there are affairs of the heart that are being dealt with. Whether that be in a relationship, a loving family and deep friendship or dealing with how your loving relationship is with yourself, something is getting ready to challenge or caress your emotional attachments.
The Lovers represent perfection, harmony and mutual attractiveness. It is associated with the astrological sign of Gemini, “The Twins.” It almost always points to partnerships with just one other person. Generally, this indicates a romantic partnership but not always.
The Lovers can also show a very strong sexual connection that goes beyond instant gratification and lust to suggest a very deep desire and passion that exists between two people. The physical attraction is strong and so is the desire to be intimate with one another. When dealing with star crossed lovers in an unfulfilled relationship, if pulled inverted, it can also mean a strong love connection from a past life yet to be fulfilled.

Having the Lovers card show up in your Money sector can mean a heads up on paying attention to your finances even if you are feeling blissfully romantic. It may also point to a mentor getting ready to come into your life. Remember the old saying: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” If pulled inverted, it cautions to not blindly follow; question everything, listen to your heart and take what is offered that is helpful and works for you and disregard the rest.

Depending on what is in the forefront of your life at the moment, the Lovers card showing up is always an indication that the heart will be pushed, challenged, stroked or embraced with another. Love is usually the pathway to growth, whether it be the absence of it or expanding the heart to know and feel more of it. Always, the end results of having the Lovers card show up is a new awareness and definition of what love is, whether in a relationship or just life in general.
