Forgiveness Of The Past With The Six of Cups
When the Six of Cups show up in your reading, it shows that you are focusing too much energy the past. Whether that be forgiveness of a wrong that you desire to made right or longing for the good ole days. It is message to stay focused on the present and look to the past in nostalgia and forgiveness but deal with your life as it is now. You cannot change the past but what you can change is how you perceive it and how it effects your present day to day life.
What we are addressing here and what most readings are about, not being able to let go of a past hurt, regretting a lost love, still angry at their ex, feeling they might have made some wrong career choices. There are no mistakes and we follow the yellow brick room as we are guided and use our free will to follow your heart, regardless of the consequences, or follow someone else’s set of rules. Either way, there are amazing perks and growth and also some heavy-duty challenges. But what is importance, is that you do not drag the “should have, would have’ or could have” into the future. There is no magic time machine that can take you to the past to do a “do-over”. What you do have the power and control over is to look at your past, accept the not so good choices (but learning ones) and relish in the absolutely great and happy times. What you dwell on creates a loop of circumstance that will continue until you break it with forgiveness of the wrong doings and gratitude for all the gifts.
When the reversed Six of Cups appears in a reading, it is about clinging to the past and not focusing on the present. Reflection and nostalgia may bring up positive or negative feelings but the past was an experience to pave the way on how you handle the present. If you continually rehash the past, in whatever energy it may be, you miss out on the opportunities right in front of you. Not letting go of the past, can close you from new opportunities, the guidance and the gifts from the Universe, simply because you put too much energy into how the adult dealt with the past. Get lighter and open yourself to the curious possibilities with an open heart as when you were a child.

Career, Love, Money, Health, Spirituality
In general, it’s important not to spend too much time and effort reviewing past events. ” We all have happy memories to reflect on from time to time, but thinking that the “best of years have gone by”, it can become a self- fulfilling prophecy. The hurtful memories are just that, memories. Not tangible or having any control over your present life, unless you let it. That is where forgiveness comes into play.
Career: The card represents a possible creative side that you might have put away as you were growing into adulthood. It shows this creativity cannot only be on a personal level but also a career that involves some level of creativity. If you put the paint brush down when you became a working adult, maybe now is the time to take it back up.
Love and Romance: If you’re currently in a romantic relationship, this card can indicate that your relationship may need to be “refocused” toward the future. It can mean that you gotten to the point of relying too much on how it used to be. Try new things. It’s important now not to be stuck in the past. It can also represent that an old love may show up in your life.
Money: Where finances are concerned. Money may come to you from someone from your past or through inheritance (this of course does not mean that someone close to you is necessarily going to pass). Or you might find that money loaned to someone awhile back, now repays the loan or a long-awaited raise.
Health: If you have been having health problems, the Six of Cups is suggesting that you look to the past to where the health issue started. Many times, emotional issues are tied to physical effects. Of course, if you are dealing with a serious ailment, work with those that helping you physically through it but talking to someone in therapy can also help in relating some of your physical issues with your emotional state of mind.
Spirituality: Go back to basics in your spiritual beliefs. Look back and remember a time when rituals, prayer, spiritual support groups were helpful to you. You may now find they have a completely different meaning and purpose to you.
Susan Z’s Verdict
Whenever I see this card, I know there is an issue from the past that is not being addressed. It’s like dragging old baggage with you to the future. This is not to say to forget the past but don’t let those memories rule your present. Good or bad memories are just that, memories from the past.
