How To Get Back On Tracks After A Crisis In Your Confidence
Personal experiences are quite often a source of inspiration for my posts. I’ve always thought that nothing beats experience when it comes to helping others and to be entirely honest, recently I’ve gone through some difficulties with my self-confidence.
We all have our ups and downs and that’s just a natural fluctuation. Nobody feels at 100% every hour of every day, and sometimes those fluctuations stay for a little longer than they are expected – or welcomed! – am I right?
For this, and after having had a recent personal journey with this, I’d like to share with you my tips and tricks to get back on tracks and rebuild your confidence in yourself and your abilities so you can go back to rocking it again real soon!
1. Take your time
When you hit a low, for whatever reason, you have usually enough with what you’re feeling to add extra pressure. Trying to fight your feelings or force yourself to feel a determined way is usually only going to make it worse. Sometimes, the best way to get over something is not actually over but through. So, if you are not feeling it, accept it, be kind to yourself, and don’t beat a dead horse!
2. Search the source
At the same time, you can start by finding the source of the anxiety or fear that is causing you to doubt yourself. Has it been a recent experience? An irrational fear? Knowing where your doubts are rooted will help you come up with a plan to recover your shine.

3. Some safe “shock therapy”
If you feel uncomfortable, let’s say, talking to strangers and your job requires you to give a speech in public, try to find safe ways that help you break the limits of the comfort zone without giving you such anxiety that you forget your name! Force yourself to make some small talk with a stranger when walking your dog, or pay a compliment to someone who is wearing some wonderful shoes. Take little actions that help you regain that confidence.
4. Find support
If I’ve learnt something in life is that whatever you are thinking about is already a thing on the Internet, and that no matter how silly you feel about an issue, someone has been there before you. Don’t be afraid to say what you’re scared or concerned about and ask for help! 9 out of 10 times, you will find wonderful people willing to help you out!
5. Look back
Look for situations you have already lived that are similar to what is making you nervous and you have succeeded at in the past. There sure are some! Sometimes we just forget what we are capable of!
6. Track your progress
Set aside some time each day to analyze your feelings and compare the progress that you’ve made. Take notes of the small victories and how you felt, particularly of the before and after. It can be something such as “When I thought of approaching a stranger my heart was racing and I felt that the words wouldn’t come out, but after I told that lady how awesome their shoes where and she answered with a big smile, I felt really relieved and silly for having been so scared about it.”
Sibyl’s Verdict
It only takes some analysis, willpower and support to get back on tracks after reaching a low point! Just remember, that literally everyone is there at one point or another and there’s nothing to be ashamed about. That thought alone will help you get started and restore your full wonder!
