Jermain Jackson’s estranged third wife Halima Rashid explains their lives ‘would be better if we were not married’
Jermaine Jackson’s wife Halima Rashid – who he married in 2004, has filed for divorce. citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ listing November 28, 2015, as the date of separation. On Friday she broke her silence on their split saying ‘We have enjoyed many good times during our marriage of nearly 12 years, but we have reached a point where our lives would be better and more productive if we are not married.’ She added: ‘I respect and care for Jermaine and his legendary family, and feel blessed to have been a part of the Jacksons. ‘At this time, I ask that our friends, family members, and the media respect the difficulty of this decision and allow us privacy as we move on with our lives. Thank you very much.’
Jermaine insists he still loves his wife and wants to work things out. I’ve been with Halima for 11 years, I still love her, things happen. She is still my wife.’
This is Jermaine’s third marriage, he was previously wed to Motown founder Berry Gordy’s daughter, Hazel Gordy, the mother of four of his children. He has two sons with former partner Margaret Maldonado and has three children with second wife Alejandra Genevieve Oiaza.
Jermaine as a boy was the lead singer of the Jackson Brothers but was supplanted by younger brother Michael Jackson as the family group became The Jackson Five.
