How to Determine if Your Significant Other is Cheating

As an Angel, the number one most frequent question I get is, “Is my husband/boyfriend/wife/etc. cheating on me?” I have put together a few tips to help you determine just that for yourself.

The biggest give away of a cheater is when that person keeps accusing you of cheating. Is your significant other constantly making accusations that you are cheating on him or her? Are they constantly demanding to be able to check your phone all while keeping their own phone off limits to you? Both of these are dead giveaways that your partner is not being faithful.

Then there are the usual signs such as your partner always trying to look his or her best, he or she may be claiming to work longer hours, the intimacy between you has waned as well as your own gut intuition telling you that something is going on. Other signs include their refusal to talk about your suspicions, unexplained charges on your credit card bill or bank statement and the cheating partner’s daily routine changes.

One sign that is most often overlooked is the fact that your marriage has never been better and it seems your partner has never been happier. Before you start making accusations, though, ensure that some of the other signs are apparent.

Increased use of social media and continually liking or commenting on a specific person’s photos or posts is also a sign that your partner may be straying, or at least considering straying.

What should you do if you suspect your partner of cheating? Be more mindful of his or her actions and their schedule. Ask to look through their phone. Hire a private investigator. Just have a talk with your partner.

Once caught, the cheater often tries to justify their actions by blaming you or by trying to dissect your shared relationship to claim they did it because there were problems in the relationship that drove them to seek attention elsewhere.

While it is true that there were most likely issues within a relationship before the cheating occurred, that is usually just an excuse. Please know that it is NOT your fault if your partner chooses to stray, nor is it the fault of the other woman/man.

Blaming the other woman for tempting your partner is ridiculous. Were he truly committed to you, no amount of temptation would lead him astray. If your man strayed, it’s solely on him. He made a personal choice to be with another and to deceive you. Odds are, he’s actually deceiving the person with whom he strayed as well.

There is a very old saying that, “Once a cheater, always a cheater.” This is often the case, but there are instances in which the cheater learned a lesson and never looks to stray again. Use your best judgment when deciding how to proceed and be very, very careful about involving friends and family.
