How to Heal Emotional Scars

Life is not easy. No matter how good one may have it, at some point he or she has had to endure something ugly, negative, traumatic. These events often leave us beaten and scarred. How does one heal and simply move forward?

Through adversity is how we gain strength. It is how we can gain better, stronger character. It is part of what makes us who we are. How does one heal? He or she must simply persevere. You have to go on. It is that simple.

But how do you go on when you do not even have the emotional and physical strength to raise your own head? You must find purpose.

Finding purpose in living is partly what living is all about. Live for your children, live for your significant other, live for your pet. Live for yourself!

Whatever your situation, it *IS* possible to find healing and it is possible to find a reason to live and just continue on in a forward, positive direction. I have spoken with people who tell me that they have nothing to be thankful for and there are no blessings in their lives.

Well, for starters, you woke up today. You woke up breathing and above ground.

Some people are in such a dark place that they often find it hard to see simply being alive as a blessing, but it is. It is truly something to be grateful for because that means God, The Almighty, Your Creator, whomever you choose to believe in, is not finished with you yet. You still have a purpose. Allow yourself to serve out that purpose.

Aside from simply being alive, the sun is shining and birds are chirping. It is imperative that you find something to be thankful for every single day. Being thankful and openly expressing your gratitude will only draw more blessings to you. It is called manifesting.

Through being thankful and manifesting, you will find purpose and you will be able to heal these emotional scars.

I have lived a rather rough life and am a survivor (not victim) of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. I have been homeless and I work every single day to overcome crippling major depression and life-altering anxiety. I am proof positive that any and all wounds — or scars — can be healed.

The deepest scar I believe I have suffered was losing my own mother when I was just becoming a mother for the first time, myself. I was only 19 and my daughter was six months old. Now, 31 years later, it is still an almost daily struggle, yet I have worked to move forward and am in a very good place now.

For the first time in 32 years, I am actually excited about Christmas and have had a tree up since November 19, fully decorated, complete with packages. I did this for my children, for my grandchildren. They are, by far, my greatest blessings. They are my reason for being as is each and every single person who chooses to read this story.

I have survived and healed my own scars for THEM. I have done it for YOU.

You, reading this story, are one of the many blessings I count in my life every single day. It may have taken me 50 years, but I found my purpose and I found my blessings. It is YOU.
