It was a crazy mix of police, paramedics, and brawling at the Kenny Chesney concert, this weekend past. Up to 25 people were taken to hospital with intoxication-related health problems, including dehydration, trespassing, ticket robbery and assault. Such is the nature of the human being when they join the masses. There were also others arrested for underage drinking, with one officer injuring his thumb while trying to break up a fight.
It never ceases to amaze me how people behave when they join a group. I’m sure as individuals they left their homes with all the intentions of enjoying a concert and the fun that goes with it, but somewhere in the crowd, a darker energy emerged and it spread quickly, as it always does. I’m sure there were many people waking the next morning in disbelief at their behaviour the previous night. It is strange that country music should attract this kind of mentality, but as I said before dark energy can creep into any crowd and previously normal people behave appallingly. This is no reflection on the singer Kenny Chesney, his obvious talent has the magic ingredients to have drawn up to 40,000 people to hear his music. So on reflection, that’s a small number of people who came out the wrong end.
