Life Struggles and How to Handle Them

We each go through some rather harsh struggles in our lives. Every single one of us. It is sometimes easy to look at the lives of those who appear to have more and think their life is so much easier. But you need to stop and ask yourself if that other person is really happy or what he or she may have gone through to get where they are.

Even those born into wealth and privilege have their own rough times. I am sure you have heard the old saying, “More money, more problems.” And I am also sure have you challenged the notion that money doesn’t buy happiness. I have seen many memes where people say, “Money may not buy happiness, but it sure would make my life easier.”

True, money may help in most cases, but what it all boils down to is just how happy you are as a person. How you handle whatever comes your way will ultimately determine how your life goes and how happy you are.

Just how hard your struggles are is determined by how you choose to handle them. Do you choose to be a warrior and fight things head on? Or, do you choose to be a victim and lie down and try to play dead hoping if you ignore it long enough, it will just go away?

We all have choices and the most important of those choices is simply how we face life and the steps we take to just make our own lives better, even through the hard times.

While I have not ever been wealthy, I am at least comfortable. I have also been homeless with a young child for several months over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Sure, I would much rather be comfortable, but I also learned quite a bit about myself, my family, my friends and society in general while struggling through homelessness. Valuable lessons that have led me to be more compassionate and understanding toward others. Also, a value of myself.

There were a few times when I did break down and get emotional over the situation, but for the most part, I chose to look ahead and do what needed to be done to get out of the situation. While I do not wish that on any other person, I do hope that people come to realize that we all have own inner battles on a daily basis. But how we choose to handle them makes us who we are and gets us where we need to be.

Maybe you are struggling with a broken heart or the loss of a loved one through death. Maybe you are broke and simply struggling to put food in the mouths of your children or keep the lights on. We each have our own battles to fight in one way or another and no one person has it any worse than another when you get right down to it because we each deal with things very differently. What may be catastrophic to one person may be just another day at the office for someone else.

Tamara’s Verdict

Choose to be a warrior and fight the good fight. Do so until you simply cannot fight anymore then make one last ditch effort toward success and overcoming whatever obstacle may be in your way. No one will do it for you.
