Marriage saved by 16 months long honeymoon
Mark and Camille Dimson Villaflor is an ordinary couple. They got married two years after they met, and it was all romantic and fairy-tale like. However, the happy ending that was awaiting them, brought them back to reality. Their first year was really tough, they had issues, just like anyone else. They argued all the time and it seemed like their marriage was about to end when it hardly even started.
That was until Mark came up with an unconventional idea. How about they go on a year-long honeymoon around the world? Although both had great jobs, they agreed that this was what they needed. One thing led to another and before long they managed to save up for the big journey. One that changed their lives for ever.
They visited many countries, learning about their culture and customs. They never had so much fun in their whole life! Then once more reality kicked in. Their money lasted for 16 months, and they were about to enter ‘normal’ life once more. Doing ordinary jobs, living in one place. Of course, this is when something amazing happened. Before giving up their year-long adventure, they made a last stop to El Nido in the Philippines.
And guess what? Today they are as happy as they could ever be, running their own resort – on the very same spot. They immediately fell in love with the place and decided to create something unique there. An innovative lifestyle for themselves, but also a holiday resort for ‘lovebirds’.
Although their ‘Birdhouse’ is located deep in the jungle, that hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting. What’s more, Mark and Camille are planning to make the resort sustainable. So, there is a ‘nest’ for all ‘lovebirds’ in the middle of the jungle. Can it be any greener than that?
