Muhammad Ali, the King is dead, long live the king.
Very sad news this week at the announcement of the death of Muhammad Ali, at the age of 74 years. Ali who struggled for 32 years with Parkinson disease, fought his finest fight against the illness without complaining. He set an example for others on how to hold on regardless of what life throws at you. Ali was known not just for his achievements in the boxing ring, but also for his stance against racism and other acts of injustice. His sense of humor was as legendary as his boxing, and despite his humble start, he became a worldwide household name.
Ali was a shining example to children of many countries and backgrounds. He showed them that, no matter what the world throws at you, no matter who you are, or where you are born, if you have the dream you can have the reality. I’m sure there are many people in the world today, who owe their success to the ideals that this legend set by his example. His words were not just words; he was living proof that this could be achieved.
Sadly life through a trial, in his path, but even this didn’t stop Ali in his tracks. He once again stood in the ring, and this time, the ring was the boxing ring of life, and his opponent was a cruel twist called Parkinson disease. The champ did not back down but gave it one of his best fights ever. 32 years, morning noon, and night, he battled while never betraying his pains to his adoring fans, until finally, he was able to take his final bow, once again as a champ. May he rest in peace, and may the light he shone out across the world, burn forever. The King is dead, long live the king.
