Why must Jim Carey defend himself against accusers?
Jim Carey has lashed out at accusers over the death of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. Carey is being sued by Whites ex-husband for allegedly facilitating her suicide due to the drugs overdose. Jim was quoted as saying:
“It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away. But there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honour against the evil in this world. I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved.”
While I refuse to give my assumed verdict on any legal matters. I feel that this is the kind of damage that suicide leaves in its wake. It helps no one, sorts nothing, and breaks many things. When someone decides to end their life, it is a decision they take on their own. Even if, as Cathriona’s ex-husband claims he did give her the drugs, she chose to take them. She was a grown adult. Old enough to vote and therefore responsible for her own actions. Whatever problems Cathriona had which made her take the final step. Her actions did not fix anything.
People need to realise suicide is never the solution to a problem. It takes the problem from you and places it on everyone you care about. It will leave scars that cut deep and cut for the rest of their lives. Is that the legacy you want to leave those you love? I don’t think this would have been Cathriona’s wish either. I’m with Jim on the respect. How simple would it have been just to ask for help? Cathriona is gone, may she rest in peace.
