Prince, an accidental overdose ?
Media reports today are all reporting that Prince died from an accidental overdose. The Drug Fentanyl which seemingly is prescribed by doctors for cancer patients is said to be the culprit. Prince, whose full name was Prince Roger Nelson, was only 57 years old when he passed away. It is thought the drug has accidentally overdosed due to self-administration. This was a very sad day for the music industry regardless of how it happened or what caused it.
Let’s take a moment to just consider that this artist was only 57 years old. In those 57 years, he gave to the world more than most do in 90 years. Through his music, he spread smiles to many people across the world and created an era that will even in years to come, bring us back down memory lane every time we hear it. Artists like prince rise to fame and we sometimes underestimate what they sacrifice on this path, without their sacrifice, our lives would be a very different place.
While many people wish to focus on his death, I would much prefer to focus on his life. It’s people like him who create our memories through their music and their art. And rather than focus on a sad end to a wonderful artist, I would rather say thank you for the memories. Your music will forever remain deep within us, like the wrapping paper around the memories of a time now gone, but never forgotten.
