Rose McGowan ‘uncharms’ Hollywood.
Rose McGowan has recently made a bold statement to Hollywood. She has told them to stop rewarding Sociopath’s! She hopes that those in charge of movie and TV are listening. McGowan has publicly opened up and revealed that she experienced a serious sexual assault in the hands of a top executive in Hollywood. Although there are no names mentioned as to who committed the assault, she says that it was an ‘open secret’ in Hollywood.
It’s no secret that a candidate for US presidency was not only accused of assault but also berated for saying that he couldn’t understand why alleged victims don’t come forward sooner. I have to say that this is a perfectly reasonable question. A question that some men, and women might ponder if they have not experienced anyone who has been in that position. Consequently, Hashtag #WhyWomenDontReport has come into being for that very reason. When someone feels brave enough to reach out for support they should be listened to without judgement. Gender, sexual orientation or lifestyle should not be factors.
Rose is helping raise awareness alongside others in her quest for personal justice and posted this tweet:
‘To the women and men in the entertainment industry who know exactly whom and what I am talking about, I say be brace. Do not work with those you know to be offenders or you are no better than they. Take a stand. You are culpable for your actions. Stop rewarding sociopaths. Every time you sanction abhorrent behaviour, you are aiding and abetting a crime, that makes you no better than the criminal. How many more stories do you have to hear before you do the right thing and stop rewarding men that are predators? Why are you so cowardly that you would take the softer, easier way out? I can tell you this, your soul is a blighted one if you do so. Your personal legacy, the very fabric of your being, is at stake, so fight for it. I know you have it in you to be better. I know you have it in you to break free from the bonds of secrecy. So do it.’

Rose drew the Hermit, the Ten of Wands and the Five of Hearts.
The Hermit reveals the isolation that Rose felt when dealing with the aftermath of the assault. With mature deliberation she found the courage to seek support despite feeling very much alone in Hollywood when no one appeared to be listening.
The Ten of Wands represents the heavy and overwhelming burden that almost became too much to bear. Rose felt unable to express her thoughts in the manner that she wished leaving her feeling drained of all power. By defining her real goals stripped of outside distractions it allowed Rose to release some tension and put her limited energies to their best use.
The Five of Hearts is very much the sadness and disappointment that Rose felt. Despite hesitating, Rose made a conscious effort to overcome any negative feelings allowing herself the kindness that she would have offered a friend in a similar situation. She became her own best friend and this allowed her to gain further strength and raise awareness around this issue whilst inner healing took place.
I feel that Rose has yet to gain the personal justice that she seeks but she has taken the first monumental step and as she continues to move forward she will begin to lose the associated pain. Rose is wished all the best on her journey.
