Serena Williams announces pregnancy with Snapchat photo
Within the last year, Serena Williams has shared several life milestones and now she can add one more. The tennis phenom took to social media this week to announce she is expecting her first child. Williams, 35, got engaged to Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian in late December. The pair started dating in 2015 and has largely remained out of the headlines. Her soon-to-be husband proposed to her during a vacation in Rome, where the couple first met. Williams then took to the online forum to show off her sparkly engagement ring a couple of weeks later in an adorable snap with her man titled “Engagement shoe game.” The two were dressed to impress as she rested her hand on his chest, showcasing her huge rock!
Serena had posted a screen shot that showed her new baby bump in a yellow bathing suit with the text “20 weeks.” Serena’s rep stated: “I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this fall.” It’s still unclear why Williams decided to delete the photo from Reddit. They are currently enjoying time with each other on vacation at an undisclosed tropical location, possibly celebrating the baby news and have been posting photos non-stop. The pregnancy is definitely more exciting news for the happy couple, since Serena just scooped up her latest tennis title in January 2017 at the Australian Open, defeating her sister Venus Williams. And if our math is correct, she may have already been pregnant at the time, making her victory even sweeter in retrospect. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has been the top-ranked tennis player in the world more than seven times in the last fifteen years.
