The Challenging Nine of Swords
As everyone knows, there are tarot cards that are designed to give us a heads up to look at some things in our life that may be troubling us and designed to have us take a look at them. The Nine of Swords is one of those cards. Whenever I see this card in a reading, I immediately go into my counseling mode to ask “why”, or advise that a different approach must be needed.
When the Nine of Swords falls into a card spread, depending on what issue is being dealt with, it usually represents struggling with depression, despair, worry or anxiety over a situation or a person. The Nine of Swords is the card of worry and fear and gives that negative ‘feel’ to it. But what this card directly tries to point out is that whatever is causing you to feel depressed, worried or having nightmares over a situation is primarily of a psychological nature within and does not necessarily mean that your life is falling apart except for how you perceive it at the moment. If you only focus on the possible negative outcomes to a situation, it becomes your self-fulfilling prophecy.
When the Nine of Swords is reversed, it usually is an indication that your dealing with hopelessness, sometimes severe depression and unnecessary worry over a life situation. This card is sometimes called the “nightmare” card as it can indicate that whatever is upsetting you can haunt your dreams and wakes you in the night. Now is the time to make a more conscious effort to quit the negative self-talk and replace it with positive reinforcement for your job well done in dealing with the challenges.

Career, Love, Money, Health, Spirituality
When Career is involved with this tarot card, it indicates a strong worry and concern about your work situation. Whether it is a job you already hold or one you are looking for, worry and anxiety will not change anything in your job environment or support you looking for work. Work on your positive self-talk with meditation or affirmation tracks. Anything to stop yourself from talking and thinking negative.
Where Love and romance is addressed with the Nine of Swords, something is troubling you very deeply with regard to your relationship or your desire to have one. Trust your instincts, if you feel that your relationship is an unhealthy aspect of your life, then you are being asked to address it. If you are involved with someone new, don’t let your fears and anxiety from past experiences overshadow a possibility of something wonderful and different coming into your life. Trust takes time to develop, so don’t immediately go to the place of doubting someone new of what their intentions are or expectations that their word will be broken. Don’t be in a big hurry either to trust without boundaries leaving yourself open to possible disappointment.
When Money comes into the card spread with the Nine of Swords, it is showing an imbalance of how you are handling your finances. Possibly being in position where money coming in and money going out is in the energy of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Find out what resources are available to help you if you need them and make use of them.
Health being addressed in a card spread when this tarot card appears is throwing a big suggestion your way to be very cautious about your use of drugs or alcohol as a self-medication to keep you from addressing what is really causing you distress, when what you really need is to get to the bottom of what is bugging you. Stress could be taking its toll and you just don’t want to deal. Take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to address any challenge in your life.
Since nines always addresses the soul’s path where Spirituality is concerned, when the Nine of Swords falls in your reading, it’s a clear sign that you must slow down your path of worry and stress and stop the inner chatter. Prayer, meditation, spiritual counseling all will help to silence the mind chatter of doubt and feelings of hopelessness.

Susan Z’s Verdict
As you can see from what I have written, the Nine of Swords is not a card I like to see in anyone’s reading but sometimes our soul just fells it needs to point out to you that it is time to let go of the illusion of hopelessness and depression and change your energy to the possibility of a positive outcome, regardless of how it may look in the moment.

What you just wrote to me regarding the 9 of swords hit right on the button. Amazingly so. Im going threw such a bad depression due to my health, legal matters and just so much crap on my plate it makes my head spin. I feel cornered, suffocated, etc. Ive had more losses the past 12 years too, on top of practically no income. I dont even know where to pick up the pieces to fix my life. On top of two more major losses to potentially happen. Bcs of money im losing to storage units of whats left of my life, im disabled so i cant find a way of getting the $1000.00 I need to stop that, possibly losing my father bcs of his heart, my health and i have a drs appt sept 4th to start treatment i need but who knows bcs the legal issue im having is really in my way and i think they need to find someone else to bother and leave me alone so i can fix my life. Im scared, i go into panic attacks, get so depressed i cant think talk or eat and im shaky from my nerves bcs of all this especially the legal crap that eventually going to stop me from fixing my health, trying to get the money so i dont lose a lifetime of valuable things and being here instead of a friggin cell if god forbid something happens to my father. Im mad, anxious, depressed and feel cornered. I dont know what to do. Im really afraid.
It works really well for me
You are Correct, I have been feeling like there was Nothing, Hopelessness, Sadness, Despair, there are Situations in my life I’m having a hard time dealing with, Not just One or Two but Several, like I’m drowning in despair, I try to think Positive Thoughts, but because of Situations that just keep coming, I find it almost impossible to feel or think Positive, I know I have to face these Situations head on, and Do My Best to find the Positive in each Situation, but Fear and Worry always find there way back to me, I will try harder to be Positive and Mostly just know and Believe Everything will work out and it will be ok… Thank You,
Gail
There are so many people being challenged today in their faith that good things will come to our hard and seemingly hopeless situations but the most important thing in finding something positive to focus on, even in the hard times. As I have suggested many times before, prayer, positive affirmation tapes and gratitude for even the smallest miracle of the day can turn the energy around. Unfortunately we are unable to answer specific questions here on the stories page but if you would like to contact one of our amazing psychics they would be happy to help and may just say the very thing you have been hoping to hear: https://www.7thsensepsychics.com/psychics.
Everything you said is what’s happening in my life right now.
It’s on point.
Thank You. Just what I needed.
