The Throat Chakra! Number five of the seven colored energy wheels that spin from the base of the spine to the top of the head. A rainbow of colors helping maintain balance within the spiritual and physical body.

Located in the neck / throat area, the throat chakra rules all kinds of communications, both verbal and non-verbal. Your voice, and the energy spent expressing your decision making processes comes from this area. When the seat of communication is balanced, projected visions align with your reality. Likewise is the ability to express yourself with clarity and confidence. Creative self expression with the need to speak your truth through the emotions comes from a place of authenticity. Additionally, listening empathically and making good solid decisions that resonate with a higher vibrational level all come under the umbrella of the throat chakra.

As with most things in life, how we feed this area serves as a mirror, figuratively and literally. Metabolism is associated with the throat chakra, the food we eat is transformed into energy, for better or worse. Any issues around body size or weight can also be associated with this area.

And so, how would imbalances or blockages within the throat chakra manifest?

Introversion and insecurity, verbal aggression, mean spirited behaviours with few filters! Speaking too much or not enough.

The honest and wise color blue is associated with the throat chakra and so introducing this color to your home or work space can have a calming effect and also boost productivity. The healing properties of water not only keep you hydrated but also cleanse the throat promoting positive energy flow.

Talking therapy strengthens this area, and so for all the chatterboxes out there, verbalise from the heart and speak your truth.  Whether It’s speaking with friends and loved ones, or a trusted psychic who will engage sensitively and listen without prejudice, it’s good to talk! Some folks find that writing is a useful and therapeutic tool for getting it all out there in a mindful non-filtered way. Do you have access to a safe space in which to keep your writings and ponder at a later date?  Whether you keep your musings or discard them you have surrendered them to the universe.
