Tarot Card Draw #1: Five of Swords

Getting the Five of Swords in any kind of tarot reading or daily draw can be a double-edged sword in that the indications of this card go from one extreme to the other. On one hand, it can represent defeat, negative change, surrender and walking away. This can also be a card of self-sabotage or underhanded behavior and deception as well as a lack of communication. It can also represent serious conflict and stress. The Five of Swords may turn up with a warning as it can signify hostility, aggression, intimidation and violence such as situations we would hope to never encounter in our lives such as crime, theft, bullying, abuse, assault, rape, murder. On the other hand, it may simply represent the action one must take to overcome being challenged by others such as standing up for oneself and fighting back. As such it can be an indication of victory. If so, the victory it represents will be hard won as you will have quite a battle on your hands. Spiritually, the Five of Swords indicates that the challenges you have overcome have given you the wisdom, strength and empathy to heal others. This card also indicates change so you may find yourself pursuing a new spiritual path when it appears.

Tarot Card Draw #2: The High Priestess

Among the core indications of The High Priestess are an air of mystery, heightened sensuality and a solid gut intuition, each or all coupled with really good common sense. You are headed in the right direction and keeping things just interesting enough to prevent others from feeling bored. The High Priestess appearing in your daily draw could be urging you to be more mindful of your own gut intuition or simply in your own abilities. She could also be trying to make you more aware of various signs being sent your way either by spirit or a deceased loved one. She may be telling you to try and pay more attention to your dreams and, if you receive them, visual or audio messages being sent your way. When seeking guidance on a professional situation or opportunity, this lovely lady may come up letting you know that you could soon be made aware of information or an opportunity that will greatly benefit you in some way. She also talks of finding hidden inspiration or an undiscovered talent or that it is time to be more expressive of who you are and what you are capable of. If you are a writer or graphic/visual artist, you need to let your inner light shine brightly for all the world to see. If you are a student who is currently struggling in a particular subject, The High Priestess may pop up to tell you it is time to seek the assistance or guidance of a tutor. The Five of Cups is an overly emotional card which quite often speaks of the negative emotions we experience such as grief, loss, depression, oppression, emotional pain, sadness, loneliness and despair. These negative emotions are quite often precipitated by an unwelcome or unexpected change or trauma in your life such as job loss, divorce, miscarriage, your significant other ending your shared romantic connection or the death of a loved one be it expected or unexpected. The Five of Cups may turn up in your daily draw if you have been feeling regret, remorse, anger sorrow or disappointment. Maybe you have recently wronged someone in some way and are now feeling badly for it. Possibly you feel abandoned or betrayed by someone close to you or by someone whom you trusted a great deal and never expected to turn on you. While your heart may be breaking or you may be simply feeling quite overwhelmed by the pain and darkness, this card also speaks of something that I quite frequently write about: there is always something positive to be found in every situation, no matter how bad or negative it may be. This is made evident by the lone upright cup among the four overturned cups. If we look hard enough, we can find the positive and hopefully use it to find healing or to be advantageous to us in some other way.
