The year of 2020 is already a year for the record books, and we are not even halfway through. People will be talking about this year for many, many years after most of us are gone. So far, we have found ourselves in the grips of a global health pandemic, shutdowns, lockdowns, quarantines, an economic crisis with massively record high unemployment rates, worldwide protests following the death of United States citizen George Floyd at the knee of a Minneapolis police officer while three other officers stood silent. This month marks the start of hurricane season in the United States and as I am writing this, a hurricane is pelting New Orleans, Louisiana. It is predicted that this year of 2020 will bring us an unusually high number of hurricanes as well as greater intensity. Rather than sitting idly by and allowing history to be made all around you, take some action and create your own history. Implement some positive changes so this will also be a record year for you personally.

Tarot Card Draw #1: Nine of Pentacles

Depicted on the Nine of Pentacles, upright, is a seemingly learned man in a small lush green clearing surrounded by bunches of purple grapes, quite possibly the literal fruits of his efforts. Before him, neatly stacked, are the financial rewards he has accumulated through his own hard work as well as focused and determined efforts. The man looks to be possibly in his 40’s with an air of higher education about him. While his intelligence could well be self-taught, it is clear that he has done quite well for himself based on his surroundings and the pentacles that stand before him. This shows that effort and hard work are followed by reward. Also, that nothing worth having is not without effort. As adults, it is always best to be fully self-sufficient for your financial security. There is really only one person whom each of us can count on and that is ultimately ourselves. Hard work and dedication can take you a very long way as can expanding upon your own knowledge base. While formal higher education is not for everyone, it is always strongly encouraged to build upon your own knowledge base in some way so as to make you more marketable in the workforce as well as so you can ultimately reap the rewards of your own successes.

Tarot Card Draw #2: The Fool (Reversed)

The Fool card shows us a figure seemingly oblivious to the fact he is about to step off of a cliff into the vast unknown. But this card also evokes the thought of confidence and knowing that he will be safe taking a leap of faith as he gazes up to the heavens. He could be looking to the sky for protection and knowing that he will be taken care of through his own faith in a higher power. With the card falling reversed for you today, it urges you to not take any unnecessary chances right now, especially when it comes to your work or regular source of income or in making any irreparable changes to your life. Now is not the time to be taking any unnecessary chances based solely on faith be it to your job, your living situation or your romantic life. While I always encourage everyone to continually keep their options open for something bigger and better in work, business and home, this is not the time to let go of one job in pursuit of another unless you have fully secured a new job. It is not the time to step out on faith in purchasing a new home unless you have secured thorough inspections done by licensed professionals. Also, it is not the time to take chances with your heart. The Fool, reversed, urges caution and clear thought rather than simply taking action on faith. Having faith is always the best way to proceed through life, but then again, so is exercising your common sense.

Tarot Card Draw #3: Six of Sword

Looking at the Six of Swords, upright, we see a figure standing in a boat as they make passage across a vast sea to a seemingly new land. This person’s arms are crossed over their chest as if in triumph that a turbulent situation is being left behind or in resolve that they are headed into a new, much more positive environment once they have crossed the water. To one side of their boat, the seas are roiling and choppy. On the other side, the sea is calm and inviting. The vast difference indicates choice and control that the person has over their own destiny. Through their crossed arms and forward, determined expression, we see a person taking back control of their own life and destiny, no longer at the mercy of others. The six upright swords indicate their will to fight in an effort to maintain that control and to simply create a better overall situation for themselves. These swords offer security and protection against any ill intentions of others and any threats posed to this person. The structures that appear to be built into the rock face in the distance prove that anything is possible with the right mindset.
