Quite often, we become engaged or indulgent of rather negative behaviors and patterns without even realizing it. For many of us, it is difficult to accept when someone tries to bring this negative activity to our attention either because we are so firmly entrenched in denial or maybe we are just simply too close to the situation. It is at times like these when the Tarot can help you to see things a bit more objectively as the cards are simply are more objective than our friends and family. It is just easier to accept what the cards say sometimes.

Tarot Card Draw #1: Page of Wands (Reversed)

For the most part, the Page of Wands coming up reversed in a spread or daily draw is quite positive. The only negative aspect to it is that it warns you may be rushing into something without thoroughly thinking it through. It urges you to more seriously weigh all the pros and cons before taking action. Among the positive indications of this card is that some good news is coming your way and you should hear about it rather soon. The reversed Page of Wands also signifies that you will soon discover something that brings you much joy and you become quite passionate about. It can also be indicative of new and innovative ideas that could greatly benefit you both personally and professionally. This card may turn up when life may be getting too serious or you are just taking things too seriously and you need to release your inner youthful spirit. Give in to the playful side and start looking at things with a new and fresh perspective. The Page of Wands, reversed, also speaks of finding inspiration and a growing creative side to yourself you did not know existed or maybe you are just finally able to fully express your creativity. You need to start thinking on a more grand scale, possibly make some exciting new plans for your future.

Tarot Card Draw #2: Eight of Swords

When the Eight of Swords turns up in your daily draw or a tarot spread, it is often to bring your attention that you are holding yourself in a rather negative situation. You may be unknowingly holding yourself back or choosing to stay in this bad place out of fear, indecision or a lack of confidence to move forward. In addition to fear – possibly unfounded –, the reversed Eight of Swords speaks of anxiety, paranoia and other mental/psychological problems. This card may come up when you find yourself feeling cornered, trapped or in a bad situation with no clear way out. You may be feeling lost, helpless and completely without hope. You have given up your power and feel as though you are being held against your will to some extent be it physically, mentally or emotionally, but mainly mentally. This card could also turn up when you feel others may be judging you, quite possibly harshly or without merit. As you find yourself in any of these negative situations, keep in mind the initial message of the Eight of Swords: you are keeping yourself in this situation. Step back and try to look at things more objectively to try and understand why you are doing this to yourself then take corrective action to rectify or clear up the negative situation and ultimately turn it to your advantage. Lastly, the Eight of Swords could warn of looming legal consequences, quite possibly severe.

Tarot Card Draw #3: The Hierophant (Reversed)

The Hierophant may turn up reversed for you when you find yourself knowingly and openly bucking tradition and following a more nontraditional path or leading an unconventional or alternative lifestyle. It can also come up as an indication that it is time to break with tradition and simply do your own thing. As many people say, “Let your freak flag fly!”. Tradition and old ways of thinking are simply not serving your greatest good or aligning with your own personal beliefs and desires. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it is what makes each of us unique and our own person. It is possible people in your circle (usually relatives) do not understand your need or desire to throw out the rule book and not follow the norms of society, but that is their cross to bear. You owe them no explanation unless your choices have a direct impact on them. The tried and true simply does not work for everyone and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being who you are and standing out from the crowd unless you are doing it solely for the attention. Alternatively, The Hierophant, reversed, may come up for you if you are holding strong to old ways of thinking to the point that it is working against you in some way and could potentially cause you harm, though not necessarily physical. It could be financial, familial, mental, etc. Also, it is possible that as a result of you going against the grain or acting in such a way that contradicts the core value system you were taught growing up,you are now feeling guilty or shameful as a result. On a more positive note, when The Hierophant turns up reversed for you, it may be to tell you that not following the proven path could open up some new and potentially quite beneficial paths and opportunities to you. Lastly, this card may warn of butting heads with someone in a position of authority.
