The Williams Sisters Venus and Serena lose first ever Olympics Doubles Match.
The Williams sisters, three-time doubles gold medalists were the hot favorites to take gold. This did not happen for them. There was much frustration and yelling on the court.
The Czech Republic’s Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova, who rank 28th and 21st respectively were naturally delighted with their win against the sisters.
Apparently, the green courts in Rio play slower than the hard courts used in America.
Venus and Serena are evidently not used to losing and were not happy with their first ever loss at the Olympics.
They did not wish to give any interviews.
Oh dear, Venus and Serena don’t want to play anymore, have they taken their bat and ball home?
The cards drawn by the sisters are based on the outcome of this particular game. They drew the Devil, the Chariot and the Sun. The Devil represents the worst side of human nature. The Devil demands instant gratification. Venus and Serena are powerful athletes and they are winners. Their limited beliefs have shown poor sportsmanship, and this is definitely not cool. The Chariot signifies the aggressive qualities that have brought past victories with their robust physique and the considerable energies. These qualities will not always be of value in all circumstances. I feel that the defensive mask will eventually be removed as the ability to meet challenges head on returns. Thank goodness for the Sun. The light at the end of the tunnel. The sisters will go away and dust themselves off and come back stronger. The Sun gives the gift of a cyclical nature. Springtime will return and the girls will show the world what they can do. Chin up girls!
