We Might Be Getting More ‘ Hunger Games ’ And ‘ Twilight ’ Movies

Both the “Hunger Games” and “Twilight sagas ended less than five years ago, both movie franchises extended into two-part final installments to make it last as long as Lionsgate (who produced both) could. It is the studio that turned Jennifer Lawrence into J-Law and Kristen Steward into K-Stew. Now it has been announced by Lionsgate they have intention of making more films in both franchises if the authors Stephanie Meyer and Suzanne Collins are game. Vice chairman Michael Burns subsequently stated that the franchise “will live on and on,” and he suggested that further movies might take the form of prequels as in the Harry Potter, 2016 movie hit, “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find them.” Both the “Hunger Games” and “Twilight” franchises raked in billions for Lionsgate, the latter edging out the former with a worldwide gross of $3.3 billion.

“There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories,” Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said to Variety. It obviously was not missed by the studio at how well Warner Bros. did in 2016 with that prequel of J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter movies, “Fantastic Beasts.” Four more installments are scheduled to follow with J.K. Rowling being directly involved with the movie scripts. Given the odds, more films with sparkly vampires and bow-wielding heroines are definitely in their favor. The success of the Harry Potter prequel “Fantastic Beasts” showed that a hit film property can have life beyond the end of the main series. With revivals and reboots seeming to be the big rage across the industry at the moment; NBC also revealed it would like to bring back several TV shows from the grave, “The West Wing” and “The Office.” With so many movie franchises out there, the possibility is endless. Can’t you just almost hear the “cha-ching” of the financial bottom line in the producer’s meetings. Lol!

Odds Are Very Good We Will Be Seeing These Huge Movie Franchise Prequels In Theatres Soon

Susan Z’s Conclusion:

Phew! It is like one big light bulb went off in movie and TV land with the success of J.K. Rowling’s “Fantastic Beasts.” There were so many unanswered questions on beginnings in just the Harry Potter series, so the potential for new creative projects were ripe.

The Magician: Inverted (Upside
Creating the imagined future, sometimes with smoke and mirrors. Since inverted, this shows the studios are kind of feeling like they got caught with their pants down on this idea. As in, “why did we not think of this before.” Well, duh…Star War?

Knight of Wands: Inverted
Freedom to do what one wants and impatience in making it happen. This card tells me this prequel idea has been on the table before but is now being pushed forward after seeing the success of “Fantastic Beasts.”

Nine of Pentacles: Inverted
Enjoying the success of your labors. Being pulled inverted, I would say this suggests the overall feeling is “we should have had these projects going long before this.”
