Being Accountable For Our Life Choices<\/h2>\n

Each day gives us an opportunity to make a choice of response or a choice of pro-action on our part. One of the hardest things in life is feeling stuck in a situation we don\u2019t like and want to change. We may have tried and not succeeded, exhausting ourselves with coming up with solutions to make happen what we hope for or we may have even given up. <\/p>\n

The one key to changing our life situation is resolve. In hindsight, we look at our past choices and want to have an answer to why we made those particular choices, blame yourself or someone else for those life choices. The reality is that it was the right choice for you at the right time and it you can accept that you cannot change the past with juggling the whys of the good and the not so good choices, you can then begin to start making them from a place of self-contained power versus response and re-action.<\/p>\n

Even with hindsight on the choices we have made, it is difficult to know what spurred us on to make certain life changing choices and how they have added up to our current life situation. What is important is to examine the story we tell ourselves of why those choices were made and to remind ourselves that was then and this is now. If we only focus on to the supposed failures or disappointments, we block our ability to allow ourselves to succeed at creating a different future. We have the power to change the story we tell ourselves by acknowledging that in the past, we did our best. We can also recognize that we have learned from all of our experiences, and that is what will help with making current and future choices. The trick to being accountable to changing our lives to something better is make no excuses, EVER!<\/p>\n

When you decide that you are ready to make different choices to get different outcomes, you must be willing to be accountable for your thought patterns getting you to the place where you make changed choices. The old saying is that if you keep on doing the same things, thinking the same thoughts, you keep on getting the same results. Instead, spend your thought time planning your next successful venture. Positive thinking becomes a habit. Excuses fuel failure.<\/p>\n

  1. Acknowledge that your life is your responsibility and no one else\u2019s. You may not be able to control a situation but you can determine how you will react to the event. You can make a situation a disaster or you can use it as an opportunity to learn and to grow. No one can live your life for you. You are in charge.<\/li>\n
  2. Listen to yourself when you speak about you, someone else or any situation. Words are very powerful and what you put out there comes back to you in the same energy. If all you are hearing and thinking is negative failure or lack of optimism, that is exactly what will show up every time.<\/li>\n
  3. Be pro-active about how you make your life choices. Don\u2019t wait until you are forced to make one of either this or that. Think it out only from your position of heart gain, happiness and personal power.<\/li>\n
  4. Make your life choices from the heart not the ego, who will immerse you in the fear of \u201cwhat if\u201d. If you make a not so smart choice, don\u2019t beat yourself up about it. We all make mistakes, that is how we learn. We change our lives by learning from those mistakes.<\/li>\n
  5. Control your defensive reactions about your choices and own them. Right or wrong, they belong to you. You matter and once you feel the power of what a life choice can do with you in the driver\u2019s seat versus reacting to someone else\u2019s behavior or thoughts, you will then start owning your life.<\/li>\n
  6. Make every life choice as though it matters, because it does. You matter, so you carry that energy of being able to change your life direction with even the smallest life choice you make. Own them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
