Whether it is the first time you’re spending Christmas with your in-laws or it is a well-known war zone for you already, it is a truth universally acknowledged that Christmas gatherings usually take a toll on couples and that there are some family members that don’t really collaborate to make the environment nice and agreeable for everyone. <\/p>\n

The truth is, though, that at the end of the day they are your partner’s family and they are important to them. Or even if it is you who has the difficult relatives, you can’t help but loving them, right? Here are a few tips, tricks and things to remember in order to make the holidays as merry as humanly possible!<\/p>\n

1. Put yourself in their shoes<\/h3>\n

Whether it is your partner’s mother, father, sibling or cousin who is being not very nice to you, your partner probably feels just as uncomfortable as you with the situation and they are trying to avoid drama. Do not take it into consideration if it is something minor.<\/p>\n

2. If you’re the latest addition to the family, expect to be questioned<\/h3>\n

This can be uncomfortable, and depending on the family’s level of closeness and openness things could get a bit too weird. – Trust me, I’ve been there. On my first day meeting my fiance’s family I was questioned about our bedroom life and his goodies! – If you don’t know what to do, smile politely! 3. If you have a declared open fire with a family member, kill them with niceness<\/h3>\n

This may sound easier said than done, but, let’s be honest. What is more annoying that trying to make someone jump in rage and only meeting the sweetest smiles?
