I have too much work, I will do it tomorrow, etc. What if tomorrow never comes? What if you forget all about it and never return the book? What could be a plausible reason for skipping the return date?<\/p>\n
Sanford Tousey\u2019s \u201cVal Rides the Oregon Trail\u201d was (is) the property of Osterhout Free Library in Wilkes-Barre. However, for 75 years it couldn\u2019t be found at the library. It was borrowed by a 9-year-old boy, who probably thought the same thing as we normally do. We can easily return it tomorrow. What is a few days\u2019 fine, right? That time the fine was 2 cents a day. Except he never expected to keep hold of it for 75 years.<\/p>\n
The book\u2019s due date was the 2nd of December, 1941. The then 9-year-old Robert Lockman forgot to return the book even when tomorrow came. Because with it came Pearl Harbor, too. Lockman Sr died in 2013, unaware of his \u2018debt\u2019. His daily 2 cents fine came to $554 after 75 years, two months and thirteen days. It wasn\u2019t until his son found the slip with the due date inside that the book found its way \u2018home\u2019.<\/p>\n
Of course, the fine was waived, but at least Lockman Jr did the right thing. Just like his father would have, if \u2018tomorrow\u2019 came the way he thought it would. This story certainly has way deeper meanings than \u2018just\u2019 the return of the book and paying a debt. Let\u2019s ask the cards what we should learn from it on a broader scale.<\/p>\n

\nAnother call for action. If you have an idea, act on it. Pursue what makes you happy, don\u2019t wait for tomorrow to come. Unexpected events shape who we are, don\u2019t delay the inevitable. Resisting change and avoiding it will cause delays.<\/p>\n
The Hierophant: <\/b>
\nThis card represents all the good that\u2019s within each of us. Compassion, inner conscience, a desire to serve the greater good. In this case, it also means finding our inner self. Through realizing who we are, we can connect to the divine.<\/p>\n
All in all, if you want to do something, do it now. You don\u2019t want to end up waiting for 75 years, do you? No matter how small your act seems, it is a step towards self-discovery.<\/p>\n
