He is also a contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald, the charismatic dark wizard who believes wizards are superior to Muggles and No-Majs,\u201d the release states. Fantastic Beasts director David Yates believes Law\u2019s performance \u201cwill brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.\u201d “Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him,” Yates said.<\/p>\n
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who wrote the screenplay for the first \u201cFantastic Beasts,\u201d has also written the screenplay for the second installment so Dumbledore\u2019s past and unknown history is sure to be true to the Potter storyline. The studio had been considering every major British actor in showbiz, from Christian Bale to Benedict Cumberbatch to Mark Strong to Harris\u2019 son, \u201cThe Crown\u201d actor Jared Harris. The sequel will also star Eddie Redmayne and Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, and is expected to hit theaters on Nov. 16, 2018. It will be the second of five planned \u201cFantastic Beasts\u201d movies. Albus Dumbledore is one of the most iconic characters in J K Rowling’s wizarding world, so these are some footprints Jude Law will have to follow for the wizarding fans. Richard Harris made the role popular in the first two “Harry Potter” movies, while Michael Gambon later took over the part after Harris’ death in 2002.
