\tAccording to Claude Aiken, a the former contestant, \u201cNBC made those decisions.\u201d Donald Trump made the words \u201cYou\u2019re fired\u201d a part of American pop culture during his time on NBC\u2019s \u201c The Apprentice \u201d. But it turns out he may have had much less of a role in deciding who got the boot than it seemed. During a recent appearance on \u201cDomecast\u201d, a podcast by North Carolina\u2019s News & Observer, Aiken revealed that Trump had very little to say in decisions when Aiken was on the \u201cCelebrity Apprentice\u201d in 2012. \u201cTrump didn\u2019t decide who got fired on \u2018Apprentice,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cNBC made those decisions.\u201d At another point, Aiken said, \u201cHe [Trump] didn\u2019t make those decisions, he didn\u2019t fire those people. It was very much, \u2018I\u2019m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.\u2019\u201d\t<\/p>\n
\t\tAiken stated the show even set up little ways to help Trump along through filming. \u201cThere used to be a little thing right on his desk that looked like a phone,\u201d Aiken said. \u201cHe pretended it was a phone, but it was actually a teleprompter where the producers were sending him notes.\u201d Aiken may be a Democrat who once ran for Congress in North Carolina but he tried to clarify that he wasn\u2019t trying \u201cto be incendiary\u201d with his comments. He simply wanted people to know that \u201cTrump isn\u2019t the businessman that people believe he is.\u201d \u201cHe did look like he was leading. But on \u2018The Apprentice\u2019 he doesn\u2019t lead,\u201d Aiken said. \u201cHe\u2019s told by the producers, \u2018Here\u2019s what happened. Here\u2019s who should win.\u201d Now that Trump has risen from a TV personality to president of the United States, Aiken can\u2019t help but imagine Trump is \u201cleading the country in the same way that he did \u2018The Apprentice.\u2019\u201d He said, \u201cI think to myself, the man as president definitely has a teleprompter sitting on his desk right now with people telling him, \u2018Well such and such is in the healthcare bill, don\u2019t say this.\u2019\u201d But, he added, \u201cI feel like half the time his teleprompter has broken down as president and he doesn\u2019t know what\u2019s going on.\u201d Aiken finished second during his 2012 run on \u201cCelebrity Apprentice.\u201d<\/p>\n
