That\u2019s right, Seacrest, the man who basically produces everything on the E! network, co-hosts \u201cLive with Kelly and Ryan\u201d and still hosts a daily morning radio show, among other responsibilities, will somehow find time to return to the \u201cIdol\u201d stage week after week. \tKelly Ripa shared the news on \u201cLive\u201d, telling the audience, \u201cI am happy to confirm \u2015 I can confirm with absolute confirmation \u2015 that Ryan Seacrest is returning as the host of \u2018American Idol.\u2019\u201d \u201cFirst of all, I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve ever been in a 15-year relationship and for a reason you really don\u2019t know, you break up,\u201d Seacrest began. \u201cI thought, \u2018Gosh, it\u2019d be great to get back together at some point.\u2019\u201d The producer also shared his excitement on Twitter, where he wrote, \u201cReuniting with an old flame. You are the heart and soul.\u201d ABC announced in May that it would be bringing \u201cIdol\u201d back to TV in 2018. \t\tChanning Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement, \u201cWe are thrilled to be ushering in this new era of \u2018American Idol\u2019 with Ryan at the helm,\u201d He continued, \u201cHis talent is limitless and I can\u2019t think of a more appropriate person to honor the \u2018Idol\u2019 legacy as it takes on new life than the man who has been there through it all.\u201d Details about potential judges remain sparse but we do know Simon Cowell has absolutely no interest in coming back.
