\t\tWell it is about time! The character of Obi-Wan Kenobi always had the potential with such a rich background to be brought to light and it looks like they are finally going to make it happen. Wow! There are going to be so many \u201cStar Wars\u201d movies going backward, forward and maybe some story line on the side of a character we have not seen yet. It\u2019s starting to feel like there will be a new \u201cStar Wars\u201d movie every year. With 2015\u2032s \u201cThe Force Awakens,\u201d 2016\u2032s \u201cRogue One,\u201d and with planned releases for 2017, 2018 and 2019, it\u2019s already hard to remember an era without the franchise annually dominating the box office.

\nNow, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Lucasfilm and Disney are looking to make a standalone movie centered around Obi-Wan Kenobi. Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry is in talks to direct, although there is still no script or story line yet. \u201cDaldry would oversee the development and writing with Lucasfilm brass,\u201d per the Hollywood Reporter if there\u2019s a deal. It\u2019s not known at this stage if Ewan McGregor will reprise his role.\u201d The project has been rumored for quite some time but McGregor has yet to answer whether he would reprise the role in countless interviews.

\nThe actor played Kenobi in Episodes 1 through 3 of the series and did minor voice work as the character for the recent seventh episode, \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d Kenobi also famously appeared in the original \u201cStar Wars\u201d trilogy, but he was then played by the older actor Alec Guinness. \u201cI\u2019ve been asked this question so many times, and I answer the questions when I\u2019m asked them because I\u2019ve been brought up like that, polite,\u201d McGregor said on \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d And it\u2019s gotten to the point where it looks like I\u2019m touting for work at Disney\u2019s front door. Like, \u2018Give me the Obi-Wan spinoff,\u2019 you know … Of course, I\u2019d be happy to do it.\u201d There have been additional rumors the character would also make an appearance in the upcoming eighth and ninth episodes of the main series, so this might not be the first return for the character. If this project comes about, it would follow the upcoming spinoff movie focused on the character Han Solo, which will debut in 2018.\n<\/p>\n
\nI would say it is a pretty good bet the movie will be released on the life of Obi-Wan Kenobi and starring Ewan McGregor as he has already played the character and fans are familiar with him. I am sure the movie will be based on his younger years of Jedi skill and McGregor would be the right age. Maybe the next prequel will be a younger actor during his training years as a Jedi. Phew! If you are planning on owning the full set of Star Wars movies, you better have a big DVD case and guaranteed you won\u2019t be able to pick all of them up at once. Lol!\t<\/p>\n
