Independent Women’s Love Life<\/h2>\n

\u201cHe can\u2019t handle my independence,\u201d a female client will say to her psychic, then ask, \u201cWhen will I find love?\u201d Yes, indeed, women have certainly become more independent than in the past; as my article from last week pointed out how much love relationships have changed from the 1940\u2019s to today<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before the sixties it was rare for a woman to hold a full time job, own a car, and live alone. Today, many women can support themselves, which means women no longer need men to bring home the bacon. Instead, females contribute their own chunk of bacon to a relationship. Most independent women desire an equal partnership with a man.<\/p>\n

However, even though our gender roles have changed from the old hunter\/gatherer roles in our modern society \u2013 its imprint is still in our DNA and subconscious. Some women desire their knight in shining armor to save them, while the knight on the white horse instincts is to rescue the damsel in distress. Other women feel the need to save themselves, which some men desire in a relationship. <\/p>\n

Now, throw all these different types of singles in the dating field; confusion and misunderstanding is bound to happen. Here an example of a couple (whose names have been changed) to illustrate this point:<\/p>\n

Fred and Greta<\/h3>\n

Fred was raised in a family that installed some old-fashioned values, yet Greta was raised by a single mother who took care of everything. Greta is used to be self-sufficient, so when Fred opens a door for her or insist on doing repairs, she takes this as a sign Fred thinks of her as a weakling. <\/p>\n

Fred is baffled by Greta\u2019s anger and her words, \u201cI can do this myself.\u201d He knows she can do it herself, yet this is his way of showing how much he cares for her. Fred attempts to express this to her; however, the words come out wrong because he\u2019s not a good communicator. He becomes frustrated. Greta becomes even angrier at Fred\u2019s words and frustration. <\/p>\n

Greta calls up her friend or psychic to utter these words, \u201cFred can\u2019t handle my independence, maybe I should break up with him?\u201d It\u2019s not that Fred couldn\u2019t handle her independence, he was acting upon his family instilled values and inner male that \u201cexpresses love through acts of service.\u201d The real obstacles are: different upbringings, issues with communication, expressing love in contrasting manners, and misunderstanding one another.<\/p>\n

Can this relationship work? Absolutely, as long as both parties are willing to do the work on their relationship. Fred and Greta\u2019s relationship\u2019s example does happen quite a bit as gender roles are shifting and leaving from the old-fashioned male\/female theme, into independent men and women who enhance each other\u2019s lives. <\/p>\n

These days, more and more men desire an independent woman as their mate. Men love the idea of a woman who contributes to finances, provides companionship, and has her own life instead of being needy. Lastly, he enjoys lending a helping hand and loves when she expresses her femininity.<\/p>\n
